Hi Guys! Did you know that June 23rd, was annual Pink Flamingo Day? The day was declared in honor of the creator of the original pink flamingo lawn ornament , Don Featherstone.
Once a sign of bad taste and the ultimate in all things “cheesy” the un-cool flamingo has made a comeback in both fashion and home décor. I have put together a sampling of what’s out there in flamingo home décor.
10. Tea Towel
I also came across these really unique lampshades by Chloe Croft London.
Flamingo Décor is no longer relegated to your grandmother’s condo in Florida.
The above room is precious. It was featured in Rue Magazine. Cristin Priest from Simplified Bee designed the room for her daughter in soft blush tones. The flamingo wallpaper was a pick for her animal loving daughter.
The mix of patterns in the above space by Furbish Studio is perfection. The soft tone of the flamingo wallpaper acts as a perfect back drop for this eclectic space.
Believe it or not but the above art is a DIY. Katja from the blog Shift Ctrl Art made the flamingo using a free online resource called Psyko Paint. When I have more time I am going to spend the time exploring this site and perhaps make some art of my own. I don’t know a lot about it but it seems you have access to an unlimited amount of color and painting techniques to create your art online. You can check out the flamingo project here.
How cool are the above oversized flamingo wall decals from Urban Walls? I believe that every room needs a “statement piece” or some sort of “wow factor” and these simple, easily to apply decals do just that.
Finally we have a this pink beauty that is front and center over this lovely vignette from Heather Freeman from Décor Fix. What a great statement he makes!
I could go on and on with many more wonderful photographs of flamingo interiors. This trend has been around for some time and I don’t think it’s going anywhere. What do you guys think? Can you visualize using flamingo décor in your home?
I see a flamingo in my future used in a gallery wall that I am dreaming up for my family room. I will keep you posted…
